PaperCut Student Logins

Seth tested the student login for PaperCut today. He was able to send using either of these logins (3/4/21 - MK)

  • D2L/MyState login (First initial, middle initial, last name plus password)
  • Jacks email login (full email address plus email password)

KIC Scanner

The older /tall KIC scanner is not connected to the internet, so patrons will have to save to a USB drive.

If a patron inserts a USB before starting to scan, they will not see an option to send email at all.

If a patron does not insert the USB first, they may try to send by email, but they’ll get an error message. At that point they can still plug in the USB and save the scan.

Patrons can borrow a USB drive from the Library Services Desk.

Files from the Scanner

E-mail from the overhead scanner may show up in the patron's junk mail folder instead of their In Box. The sender is 'KIC Automatic' and the subject line is "Images from KIC Station."

KIC Scanner Error Message

If the KIC scanner gives this error message - "Scanning process was interrupted..." - follow the steps below:

Switch the scanner off and back on. The power button is located at the back of the scanner, next to the power cord plug.

If the problem persists, it might help to switch the scanner from "Book Mode" to another mode. KIC Tech support says: "This [error] could be due to scanning single sheets of paper with “Book Mode” selected as the scanning mode since “Book Mode” will look for a book gutter, when it doesn’t find one, it will throw that error.

Printing government PDFs

When printing certain types of government documents, even if it looks like a PDF, if may not act like a normal PDF. It may come up with a message of some kind, which makes it look like you need to update Adobe. It may show only some of the text or none of it. If you see something odd with a PDF, try downloading the PDF to that computer and then printing it. Sometimes what you're seeing in Adobe is really just a link to a "web" PDF, and the computer can't really do much with that. Once it is downloaded, go into Adobe Reader or Acrobat and open the file from within the program. You should then be able to print.

If they have a PDF that they need to fill out and then submit, here are some steps to follow:

-go to the link they have been given, right click on the link. Copy the link.

-Go to Adobe

-in Adobe, click "create"

-choose "PDF from webpage"

-paste the copied link when requested

-fill out the form & submit from there
