This guide is intended to provide a communications means to all personnel involved in the Library Services Desk

Writing Center Tutoring

Tutoring for writing started last week.  As has been the case in recent years, they’ll be somewhat limited availability due to staffing shortage.  Most students can schedule and appointment through ConnectState.

For Grad students who haven’t been added to ConnectState yet, they should call or email Nathan directly.

TurnItIn software to check for plagiarism is enabled for a specific courses. Students who want/need the software, but aren't in a course that uses it can contact Nathan Serfling for access.

Proctoring for Exams

We do not proctor exams here in Briggs Library. Refer students to SDSU's Testing Center. They will proctor free of charge for exams from any SD Board of Regents institutions. They charge to proctor exams from institutions outside the SD BOR system. The Testing Center is located on campus south of the Dairy Bar, between the Barn and Ag. Hall.

Another option is the Brookings Public Library 605-692-9407. They do not charge for proctoring.

VitalSource

Students who need help with VitalSource textbook access should contact Sam Sheridan in the Bookstore at 688-4970 or Samantha.Sheridan@sdstate.edu.  She will then be able to gather the necessary information regarding course/section, etc. to trouble shoot with VitalSource Support.

Wintrode Tutoring Program

They offer free tutoring to all SDSU students through the Wintrode Tutoring Program

Tutoring sessions are usually held in small groups of up to four students. Requests for one-on-one tutoring may also be accommodated, depending on tutor availability. Math Help Center

Math tutors are available in the Math Help Center in the Architecture, Math, Engineering Building (AME, room 292). Hours and other details are posted here: Math Help Center.

Speech Center

The Speech Center, located in Pugsley Center 305, offers an opportunity for SPCM 101 students to practice their speech and receive feedback.

Turnitin (Plagiarism Detector) Access

Students enrolled in certain classes will have access to Turnitin, a plagiarism detector. If a student would like to use this software, but isn't in a class that's using it, s/he should contact Nathan Serfling, Writing Center Coordinator at (605) 688-6559 or nathan.serfling@sdstate.edu for help.
