Nursing Faculty: E-Textbooks

This guide is meant for nursing faculty who are interested in shaking up their current course textbooks and materials.

Nursing Librarian

What are E-Textbooks?

Whenever possible, the library will purchase an e-book version of textbooks for nursing courses. We try to purchase e-books that have unlimited user access, meaning all students can access the book at the same time. If no unlimited access option exists, we may decide to purchase a limited user option.

Interested in getting an e-textbook for your course? Reach out to see what options are available! Email the Nursing subject librarian, Aine O'Connor (aine.oconnor@sdstate.edu) for more information.

First Day Access vs. E-Textbooks

First Day Access is a South Dakota Board of Regents adopted program, and works through the university bookstore and D2L. FDA can drastically reduce textbook costs to students, but it is not a free program. Briggs Library's e-textbook program provides textbooks for free to students.

Briggs Library's e-textbooks do not include access codes, and may not have the interactive content included in First Day Access materials. Contact the University Bookstore (605-688-4163 or sdsu.bookstore.custservice@sdstate.edu) for more information on First Day Access.
