South Dakota State University (SDSU) is a partner of the Foundation Center’s Funding Information Network (FIN), which has more than 400 locations throughout the world.  As a network partner, SDSU provides databases and additional materials designed to assist organizations in locating potential funding sources.  The Foundation Center has an excellent website ( []) that provides a good orientation to its products and services and serves as a gateway to Internet resources related to foundations and grants.

FDO Quick Start

A free version of the Foundation Directory Online is available. FDO Quick Start can assist in finding basic information on U.S. foundations.

Tax Returns

Check out their tax returns! To gain a sense of who foundations are funding, search their 990 Forms. Private foundations and nonprofit organizations are required to list grant recipients on their tax returns.
