The sheer number of tweets generated by the #RapeCultureIsWhen and #MeToo movements demonstrates the need to thoughtfully analyze and discuss how our social institutions and cultural practices normalize sexual violence in all its forms. An analysis of the seventeenth-century novels by Spanish auther, Miguel de Cervantes can facilitate these conversations, challenging readers to examine their own beliefs about rape culture, sexual violence, and inequality (Dr, Christi Garst-Santos).
