Global Studies Research Guide: Books

Resources for research in global studies.

Books

Because of the time it takes to publish, books usually contain more dated information than will be found in periodicals (newspapers, magazines, and journals).

Books are good sources for:

  • Background information
  • An overview of a topic
  • Ideas on how to break down or narrow a broad topic
  • In-depth analysis
  • Comprehensive treatment of topic
  • Specific information on a topic (consult the table of contents or index to find specific information)

Using Quick Search

On the library's home page use the Quick Search option to access PRIMO Discovery Service. Quick Search searches the library's catalog and a number of the library's databases simultaneously. After you conduct a search, use the Source Type limiter in the left-hand pane and select Books to limit to this source type.
