EndNote: What is EndNote?

Mac EndNote Issue - January 19, 2018

There is an update for the Mac version of EndNote that will make it compatible with the most recent update of Microsoft Word. If your EndNote X8 ribbon in Word is missing, try closing Word and updating EndNote.

What is EndNote?

  • Saves citations from databases (journals, books, other reference types)
  • Inserts citations into papers in Word, Pages, Open Office Writer, and other word processors
  • Organizes your PDF articles
  • Available to all SDSU students, faculty, and staff
  • Provided by the South Dakota Board of Regents

Note on Browsers

Firefox imports records directly into EndNote with no extra steps required.

Chrome saves a file to your computer and then you must import it to EndNote from within EndNote.

Internet Explorer does not work well with some databases or with EndNote. Try a different browser.

Safari may offer you the option of importing directly or saving. It works differently with Macs and Windows.
